Greening Events Implementation Guide

Greening Events Implementation Guide

The SCN Greening Events Implementation Guide (aka Greening Events Guide) is a collaborative project of the cities of Phoenix, Mesa and Glendale via ASU’s Sustainable Cities Network’s (SCN) Steering Committee. The Guide was created to help event planners host sustainable events in a cost-effective manner. Within the Guide, you’ll find helpful ideas and sustainability actions suitable for public and private events, varying from green procurement and planning to waste management, measurement, and recognition.

Our goal is to help groups host more green, local events that produce less waste, increase sustainability knowledge , and lower the event’s environmental impact and while at the same time increase local interest and even exposure.

The Greening Events Guide includes actions to support green initiatives related to:

  • Carbon neutrality
  • Materials management
  • Education
  • Social ethics

By taking certain sustainability actions included in the Guide and keeping track of these efforts (which count for points), you obtain a voluntary Green Events Level recognition for event.
