Rural, Indigenous and Small Communities Workgroup
Recognizing issues with geographic location, the challenges faced by rural and small communities are similar to urban centers yet require a different approach to sustainability solutions in rural and small communities in Arizona. The purpose of the Rural/Small Communities Working Group is to provide a specialized network and forum to discuss sustainable challenges, collective opportunities, and best practices for rural and small communities. This ensures statewide resilience by equipping rural and small communities with Arizona State University’s research and knowledge and exposing these municipalities to successful global, nationwide, and statewide programs and opportunities to encourage communities to incorporate sustainability as a daily practice. The objectives we hope to address include but are not limited to, funding resources, economic development, and emergency preparedness. This forum serves to meet and collaborate, learn from those farther along, and for rural/small communities to participate and become a part of Arizona’s sustainability development.
Workgroup purpose
The Rural, Indigenous and Small Communities Workgroup provides rural communities with a network and forum to discuss sustainable challenges, collaborative opportunities, and best practices.
