The City focuses its sustainability efforts on five priority areas, including energy consumption, urban land use, renewable energy, sustainable fleet, and water consumption. Through innovation and stewardship, Chandler seeks to meet the needs of current and future generations.

Sustainable landscape management
A team of Master of Urban and Environmental Planning (MUEP) Planning Workshop students examined the current state of water use and conducted a peer community assessment. Leveraging strategies and best practices gleaned from the initial data collection and analysis, the students will develop a framework for educating and informing the local community about sustainable landscape management and a “playbook” for communicating and capacity building within the City.

Taught by Chris Boone, sustainability students collected park usage data across different types of public parks throughout the City of Chandler using the SOPARC framework.
