Summary

As a participant in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Rooftop Solar Challenge–a program designed to spur solar-power deployment by streamlining permitting processes and cutting red tape–the Arizona Rooftop Challenge is launching its efforts to reduce barriers and lower costs for rooftop solar systems in Arizona.

The Arizona Rooftop Challenge comprises representatives from the City of Flagstaff, City of Tucson, Arizona State University’s Global Institute of Sustainability and SmartPower. Together, this pioneering team will create cooperation between stakeholders to reduce the balance of system costs for photovoltaic system installations in residential and small commercial markets and streamline permitting, interconnection, financing, planning and zoning processes for municipalities across the state.
