Summary

Arizona State University researchers working on this Center for Biodiversity Outcomes-sponsored project collaborate with Future Earth’s Programme on Ecosystem Change and Society to collect and analyze data from local stakeholders on the collaborative governance process for stewardship and use of ecosystems. Collaboration processes in Arizona assessed include forestry and fire management (Huachuca Firescape Plan, Chiricahua Firescape Plan, White Mountains Stewardship and the Four Forests Restoration Initiative) and water management (Colorado River Plan and Las Cienegas National Conservation Area). Similar projects look at the challenges of environmental dilemmas in Kenya, Sweden, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and India.
