The vision of the Urban Climate Research Center is to deliver transformative scientific advancements and urban climate solutions for diverse urban communities and ecosystems globally.


Arizona State University’s Urban Climate Research Center is an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative hub of social and physical scientists, planners and designers, health researchers and engineers. The UCRC collectively generates critical knowledge and policy-relevant solutions focused on reducing exposure and vulnerability to dangerous heat, extreme precipitation and poor air quality for improved quality of life for diverse urban communities and ecosystems across the world. The UCRC conducts use-inspired, innovative research, actively creating, and disseminating knowledge and tools that bridge the gap between science and society. A central objective is to directly benefit a wide range of stakeholders, including local governments and industry partners – all with the ultimate goal of enhancing the lives of urban inhabitants.
