As project coordinator for the Global Locust Initiative, Mira’s role is to collaborate with stakeholders and GLI Network members to develop and activate projects, events, and research. She manages multiple projects for the GLI and is passionate about educational outreach and making resources transparent and free for all. Mira is an alumnus of GLI Labs and did her graduate work in Senegal where she studied plant-soil-insect-farmer interactions. Mehreen is an NSF-funded Ph.D. student in the Environmental Life Sciences program at Arizona State University interested in understanding biopesticides’ effects on locusts’ immune function while integrating the effect of phase-dependent polyphenism in her studies to uncover biochemical pathways.
