Tempe Town Lake – Long-Term Urban Water Quality Monitoring

Get hands-on field and lab experience with the Tempe Town Lake Water Quality Project Research Experience! As a part of the CAP LTER volunteer opportunity, students will assist with water sample collection, and calibrating a high-precision datasonde deployed in Tempe Town Lake, a dynamic, man-made reservoir in the Salt River bed. You’ll learn essential skills in field research and water quality monitoring, including handling and calibrating scientific instrumentation, while contributing to a long-term ecological research that investigates how urban systems respond to extreme events, management decisions, and climate variability. This experience offers a unique chance to enhance your research resume and work closely with CAP LTER scientists in a real-world research setting.
