The informal sector makes up 75% of the population of Nigeria, and with a ratio of 1:5000 doctors to patients, it is imperative that the people of this sector receive treatment that is affordable and accessible. Market Doctors has visited 7,432 communities to reach 240,000 people, including conducting over 5,000 first-time medical consultations. They have also partnered with over 100 corporations and pharmaceutical companies to give their customers access to affordable drugs and medicine when needed.

Bharti Singh Chauhan is the founder and CEO of PraveenLata Sansthan and Carvers India Trades LLP, a social enterprise in India whose mission is to benefit the social and economic transformation of girls and women by selling reusable sanitary pads made out of bamboo charcoal, while also promoting safe practices around periods in urban and rural communities. They have trained 301,384 women and girls on how to manage their periods safely and supported 15,457 with free pads under their Merapad Meri Saheli Program. Through this program, for every pad sold, there is a pad donated to support vulnerable girls and women helping them manage their periods with dignity.

The company helps over 500,000 monthly users get answers to their everyday health challenges, helping them support their children’s health and wellbeing wherever they are.

The technology, known as Charaka, blends ancestral wisdoms of plant nutrition with biotech and machine learning to replace the animal, synthetic and ultra-processed ingredients in food with 100% plant-only alternatives. As opposed to most food manufacturers relying on about 7,000 additives, Charaka aims to analyze and utilize the 450,000 plants and 10 million compounds nature offers.

Additionally, Elemental invests in gathering community knowledge from nonprofits, community-based organizations, and government agencies, understanding that technology is only half the solution and that the communities in which these technologies are deployed make up the other half.
