Climate Pollution Reduction Grant
Overview
The Inflation Reduction Act allocated $5 billion to the Environmental Protection Agency to support efforts by states, U.S. territories, municipalities, air pollution control agencies, tribes and other relevant groups to develop and implement plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With this funding, the EPA is committed to support the creation and expansion of local, tribal, territorial and state climate action plans, as well as the swift implementation of investment-ready policies, projects and programs to reduce GHG pollution in the short term.
Outcomes
ASU contributed to the development of the State of Arizona Priority Climate Action Plan, the first of four deliverables funded by the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant. The remaining deliverables include a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan and two status report updates. These future reports will be more inclusive, comprehensive and long-term in scope, outlining additional measures to reduce GHG emissions.
