Summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The UNESCO-BRIDGES series of Humanities Labs is the Signature Project of the Flagship Hub.  Working closely with ASU’s Humanities Lab, these unique pedagogical offerings bring students together with some of the most famous writers, leading sustainability researchers, global governances officials, librarians, and community leaders to explore interdisciplinary solutions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each Lab is humanities-led, which fulfills the mission of both BRIDGES and the Humanities Labs to model the ways in which the humanities are critical to solving the world’s most challenging sustainability and social justice problems.  Through research, storytelling, and engagement, these labs encourage participants to think beyond conventional narratives and reimagine more just and inclusive futures. Covering topics such as ocean storytelling, planetary citizenship, energy justice, and gendered approaches to peace and security, the Labs emphasize science, technology, innovation, diverse perspectives, collaborative inquiry, and actionable change. Each Lab equips students with the tools to critically analyze and transform the systems shaping our world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall 2024: Migration, Art, Place<\/a> US\/Germany taught by Claudia Sadowski-Smith<\/a> and Christiane Reves<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall 2023: Mediating Ocean Futures<\/a> Collaborating with The Humanities for the Environment (HFE) Asia Pacific Observatory taught by Lisa Han<\/a> and Clifford Kapono<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall 2023: Energy, Justice, Action<\/a> taught by Joni Adamson<\/a>, Gary Dirks<\/a> and Shannon Plummer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
