Summary

The UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Flagship Hub, based in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University, advances the world’s first humanities-led international Sustainability Science Coalition, bringing together diverse knowledge systems, disciplines, and communities to address complex global challenges and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Flagship Hub recognizes that creating just and sustainable futures requires not only scientific and technological innovation, but also a deeper understanding of human values, cultures, histories, and ways of knowing. Building on Arizona State University’s leadership in environmental humanities and sustainability research through the Humanities for the Environment (HFE) Global Network, a founding partner of UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES, the Hub brings together researchers, educators, communities, policymakers, artists, and civil society organizations to advance collaborative, culturally grounded approaches to sustainability through research, education, and international partnerships.

The UNESCO BRIDGES Global Network includes: The Club of Rome Hub, the Princeton/CUNY Hub, the University of Pretoria Hub, the University of Wales Hub, and University of Cologne Hub.  The Flagship Hub of the BRIDGES Coalition plays leading roles in the intellectual formulation and scientific oversight of the  humanities-led sustainability agenda of UNESCO-BRIDGES globally.

Through these initiatives, the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Flagship Hub adds value to the work of Humanities for the Environment and contributes to building the knowledge, capacities, and partnerships needed to create equitable and resilient futures for communities around the world.
