- Defining goals: Committee members help establish and clarify the objectives and goals of the Global Drylands Center.
- Decision-making: Members contribute to finalizing decisions regarding the strategic direction and priorities of the center.
- Assisting Committee Chair: Members support the Committee Chair in their duties and responsibilities.
- Overseeing subcommittees: Committee members can oversee and provide support to specific subcommittee chairs as assigned.
