{"id":23,"date":"2021-10-04T13:24:05","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T20:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev9.rtd.asu.edu\/?page_id=23"},"modified":"2025-09-08T08:56:50","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T15:56:50","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/globalfutures.asu.edu\/essa\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-bootstrap-blocks-container container mb-0 my-6 my-xl-10\">\n\t\n<div class=\"wp-bootstrap-blocks-row row\">\n\t\n\n<div class=\"col-12 col-md-8\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading py-8\">&#8220;We are in a new geologic age &#8211; the Anthropocene &#8211; characterized by the indelible imprint of humans on the Earth system.&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Earth Systems Science for the Anthropocene (ESSA), students learn alongside those making change, bringing their interdisciplinary skills to an integrated earth systems science: transdisciplinary, solutions and people centered, societally powerful, globally scaled, inclusive, and just.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading py-3\"><span class=\"highlight-gold\">What is earth systems science?<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It is the study of \u201cthe complex and interrelated physical, chemical, biological, and human interactions across the land, ocean, and atmosphere\u201d (US Global Change Research Program, 2012). It draws from disciplines in the natural sciences, social sciences, engineering, humanities, and technology.<\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"col-12 col-md-4\">\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-bootstrap-blocks-container container mb-2 pb-6\">\n\t\n<div class=\"wp-bootstrap-blocks-row row py-3\">\n\t\n\n<div
