This program is designed to give students a taste of what it\u2019s like to collect long-term ecological data. Learn about research-focused careers, meet established CAP researchers, and add a fun project to your resume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"uds-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>Volunteer for a few hours a month.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work alongside experienced CAP researchers to collect data for CAP\u2019s long-term ecological research projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gain experience with both fieldwork and labwork.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn how large, long-term datasets are managed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Form connections with CAP and ASU researchers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Read about each long-term research project below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested, please fill out <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1Ky9BIxGLKx2WmfvNbpcJUjJ_pTc_4Ivcc0mrazZlNBw\/edit\">this form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tempe Town Lake &#8211; Long-Term Urban Water Quality Monitoring&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Get hands-on field and lab experience with the Tempe Town Lake Water Quality Project Research Experience! As a part of the CAP LTER volunteer opportunity, students will assist with water sample collection, and calibrating a high-precision datasonde deployed in Tempe Town Lake, a dynamic, man-made reservoir in the Salt River bed. You\u2019ll learn essential skills in field research and water quality monitoring, including handling and calibrating scientific instrumentation, while contributing to a long-term ecological research that investigates how urban systems respond to extreme events, management decisions, and climate variability.
