Let\u2019s zoom into some Phoenix June records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Climatological statistics often evaluate \u201caverage\u201d numbers. Here\u2019s how some are calculated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"uds-list wp-block-list\">\n<li>The average monthly temperature is calculated as the average monthly maximum temperature plus the average monthly minimum temperature divided by two (max+min\/2).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The average monthly maximum temperature adds all the maximum temperatures for the month, then divides by the days in the month. The same calculation is used for the average monthly minimum temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the June stats for Phoenix:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>June 2024 was the hottest June on record (to date), with an average monthly temperature of 97.0\u00b0F.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 2024 average June maximum: 109.4\u00b0 (record)<br>\u2022 Previous record: 108.6\u00b0 (1974)<br>\u2022 Change in temperature: + 0.8\u00b0F<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 2024 average June minimum: 84.6\u00b0 (record)<br>\u2022 Previous record: 82.5\u00b0F (2021)<br>\u2022 Change in temperature: + 2.1\u00b0F<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average minimum temperature change was nearly 3 times greater than the average maximum temperature change. In the early 1900s, the average was 5 days a year with 110\u00b0F or higher (1901-1910).
