About the Arizona State Climatologist

Erinanne Saffell serves the state through meaningful contributions about Arizona’s weather, water, and climate. Dr. Saffell supports local, county, state, tribal, and federal colleagues in building solutions, establishing priorities, and coordinating outcomes for Arizona and the Southwest. She expands details and provides context on risk, resilience, and mitigation for communities, agencies, and the general public through media interviews, reports, and invited presentations.

Dr. Saffell is a Senior Global Futures Scientist with the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory® and an associate teaching professor at ASU.

The Arizona State Climatologist serves the people and state of Arizona through an executive appointment funded by Arizona State University, the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, and the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning.

Dr. Saffell is Director of the Arizona State Climate Office, which is the recognized state climate office for the State of Arizona (ARSCO). A focus of the AZ State Climate Office is to evaluate and synthesize weather, water, and climate data, providing context and relevance to the people of Arizona.

Assistant State Climatologist

As the Assistant State Climatologist, Juliana Likourinou is an integral member of the Arizona State Climate Office. She collects, analyzes, and presents weather and climate data, manages and critically assesses climate datasets, builds monthly, seasonal, and annual reports, and authors infographics and interactive GIS maps that explain and demonstrate Arizona’s weather, water, and climate.

Juliana performs outreach to the general public as well as to K-12 and undergraduate groups. She is Co-President of the Central Arizona joint chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
